Julie Chang is an Associate Clinical Counsellor at MindRight Counselling & Consulting. She is a Registered Clinical Counsellor with the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors (BCACC) and has a Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology from the University of Victoria (UVic) and a Master’s Degree in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University.

Julie has acquired training and experiences in psychotherapy and treatment, clinical counselling, behavioral intervention, and neuropsychological assessment. She has worked with BC Society for Male Survivors of Sexual Abuse (BCSMSSA), Family Services of Greater Vancouver (FSGV), and Chimo Community Services. She has provided couple/family and individual therapy to survivors of abuse who presented with issues typically associated with complex trauma as well as to individuals with neurodevelopmental, bipolar, depressive, anxiety disorders, and trauma- and stressor-related disorders. She also has served years in crisis-line work, providing emotional support to communities.

Julie uses an integrated conceptualization framework to inform her eclectic therapeutic approach, Julie adheres closely to the three-phase model of trauma treatment and tailors applications of neuropsychological and multiculturally-informed frameworks to appropriate cases. She is an advocate of positive psychology and strives to infuse strengths-based principles to her clinical repertoire that includes Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Emotionally-Focused Therapy (EFT), and Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT).

Julie is a native speaker of English, Mandarin, and Hokkien, and has conversational-level skills in Japanese and Cantonese.
